AutoDoc Privacy Statement

1. Local-First Data Privacy
AutoDoc is a local-first application. This means that the primary data you create—including screenshots, step text, project descriptions, and exported documents—is stored exclusively on your local device or your own chosen network storage. We do not have access to your documentation data, and it is never transmitted to our servers.

3. Data Categories & Legal Basis
We process personal data based on the following GDPR legal bases:
- Performance of a Contract: Fulfilling your purchase and managing your subscription (processed via Lemon Squeezy).
- Legitimate Interest: Authenticating licenses via your hardware ID (HWID) and hostname to prevent fraud and manage device limits.
- Legal Obligation: Maintaining transaction records for 7 years as required by Dutch tax law (fiscale bewaarplicht).
- Consent: For optional newsletters or marketing lists you choose to join, and for optional website analytics cookies when you accept them in our cookie banner.
4. Third-Party Processors
We utilize Lemon Squeezy for payment processing and Mijndomein for web hosting. Lemon Squeezy acts as the Merchant of Record and may process data outside the EEA; such transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) where required.
5. Website Analytics (Google Analytics)
When you visit our website, we may use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC) to understand how the site is used (for example: page views, referral sources, and approximate location derived from your IP address). This helps us improve the website and measure marketing performance.
Cookies & consent: We use Cookiebot to collect and store your consent preferences. In regions where consent is required, Google Analytics is set to off by default until you choose to accept statistics/analytics cookies.

6. Data Retention
We retain billing and transaction data for 7 years. Technical logs used for license verification are retained only as long as your license is active and are deleted or anonymized within a reasonable timeframe after cancellation.

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data. You may also object to processing or request data portability.
