Executive summary

  • Product: Local-first Windows desktop app for SOPs and step-by-step work instructions.
  • Data residency: Screenshots, step text, and projects remain on the user’s PC unless the user exports files or configures their own shared folder (Pro team libraries).
  • No SaaS content hosting: AutoDoc does not operate a cloud repository for customer documentation.
  • Free tier: Full capture and timeline editor; PDF exports include a watermark. No account or signup required.
  • Pro tier: From €9.99 / month per seat (VAT included); license key activated in-app. Watermark-free exports and team libraries. One purchaser can share keys per seat limits.

Vendor & legal entity

Data handling & privacy

AutoDoc is designed for teams that must keep operational screenshots inside their perimeter. Guide content (screenshots, steps, projects) is stored on the workstation under the installing user’s Windows profile. We do not receive or store customer guide content on AutoDoc servers.

  • Guide data: Local to each workstation; not uploaded to AutoDoc for storage.
  • Website: Optional analytics cookies with consent (Cookiebot + Google Analytics). See the privacy statement for what AutoDoc Guide processes as vendor.
  • Pro licensing: Lemon Squeezy processes purchase data; the app validates Pro licenses online (see network endpoints above).
  • International transfers: Payment processor may process outside the EEA under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

Network endpoints (outbound HTTPS)

Guide screenshots are not uploaded to AutoDoc. Outbound connectivity is limited to updates and (Pro only) license validation.

Pro team libraries use storage paths the customer configures (e.g. OneDrive, file share)—outside AutoDoc hosting.

Security capabilities (endpoint review)

AutoDoc requires permissions typical of desktop capture and documentation tools:

  • Global input monitoring (mouse/keyboard) while recording
  • Screen capture on user actions
  • Windows UI Automation queries for control names
  • Local file read/write under the user profile and install directory

Pro includes optional image PII masking before export. Endpoint protection may flag new binaries until publisher reputation builds; allow-listing the signed MSI after pilot is common.

Licensing & procurement

One Windows application for every tier—no signup, account, or email at any tier. The free installer is the same MSI as Pro; Pro features unlock with a license key under Settings → License Management.

  • Activation: Enter the license key in-app—no re-download required.
  • Team rollout: One purchaser can buy seat blocks and distribute keys internally within the seat limit.
  • Terms & refunds: Terms of service
  • EULA: End-user license agreement

Evaluation checklist

  1. Install the signed MSI on a pilot VM; verify publisher AutoDoc Guide.
  2. Record a representative workflow; confirm guide content stays on the workstation and is not uploaded to AutoDoc.
  3. Export a watermarked PDF on the free tier; upgrade to Pro if watermark-free Word/PDF is required.
  4. Allow-list outbound hosts per the table above (or deploy MSI updates on your schedule).
  5. Roll out via Intune/SCCM using the deployment guide.
